BIT Sindri is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University’s engineering college in Hazaribag, Jharkhand. 

BIT Sindri offers four-year BTech programmes in 10 different specializations at the undergraduate level and two-year MTech programmes in five specializations at the postgraduate level. The college also offers a three-year PhD programme.

BIT Sindri is ranked 201-250 for BTech by NIRF 2021. In 2020, ARIIA Public Institution (Govt. / Govt. Aided Colleges) ranked the college 6-25. The college was ranked 30th amongst India’s best engineering colleges by Outlook in 2019.

BIT Sindri organizes active placement programmes at the college for its students every year. In 2021, the overall number of positions offered during the BIT Sindri placement drive was 133. Highest salary package offered was Rs. 10.54 LPA during 2021 placements drive at BIT Sindri. 

BIT Sindri provides a variety of scholarships to students. Amongst the many scholarship programmes, E-Kalyan Scholarships are available for SC/ST students from Jharkhand and BITSAA Bermo Chapter Scholarship for economically weak students of first year. The campus of BIT Sindri spans over 450 acres. The college is located 28 kms from Dhanbad railway station near the Damodar River's eastern bank and is well connected by rail and road. Over 1 lakh textbooks from a variety of fields, including Science, Engineering, and Technology, are housed in the Institute’s Library. The college also features 25 exceptional hostel facilities that can accommodate more than 3000 students.
