NLU Delhi changed the date of the AILET 2026 Exam because it clashed with another national law entrance exam date. It was originally scheduled for December 14, 2025, to be given at various test centres as a paper-based exam. The exam took place between 2 and 4 PM, giving candidates the opportunity to complete their exams within the allotted time.

AILET 2026 counselling will start shortly after the announcement of results. It will take place online for all eligible candidates who have achieved the minimum required cutoff scores. Candidates who have been shortlisted for counselling are required to register for counselling within the time frame specified so that they can be considered for course allotment. Counselling is being held in multiple rounds to ensure that candidates are admitted fairly and transparently into Law courses.

AILET 2026 results will be announced by NLU Delhi about one week after the completion of the examination on their official website. Candidates will be able to log in with their credentials to download and view their scorecards. AILET scorecard will show the total marks obtained, all India Rank, Category Rank, Qualifying Status, and any other necessary information for the next step of the admissions process.

AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is conducted by NLU Delhi for admission to BA LLB (5-year), LLM, and PhD programmes. Here is the complete timeline:

AILET Exam Pattern

Duration: 90 minutes. Marking: +1 for correct, -0.25 for wrong. Offline (pen-and-paper) mode at centres across India.

Both AILET and CLAT are law entrance exams but differ significantly:

Recommendation: Prepare for both — the syllabus overlaps significantly. CLAT is conducted first (December), so it serves as good practice for AILET (June). Most serious law aspirants take both exams. CLAT gives you options across 24 NLUs, while AILET is your only shot at NLU Delhi (ranked #1-2 among NLUs).
