About MHT-CET 2026

MHT-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) is the state-level entrance exam for B.Tech admission in Maharashtra, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell. It is held for PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) group for engineering and PCB group for pharmacy/agriculture.

Based on MHT-CET percentile (PCM), students participate in CAP rounds conducted by DTE Maharashtra to secure seats in 300+ engineering colleges across the state. The exam has no negative marking and follows Class 11–12 Maharashtra State Board syllabus.

For VJTI Mumbai Computer Engineering (Open category), you need approximately 99.90+ percentile. For ECE, it is around 99.75+. These are among the highest cutoffs in Maharashtra — only the top 0.1% students get into VJTI for CSE. For reserved categories (SC), the cutoff is approximately 99.82 for CSE.
Is PICT Pune worth it at 99.75 percentile?
PICT Pune is one of the best private engineering colleges in Maharashtra with strong placements (avg ₹9 LPA, top packages 18-25 LPA at MNCs). At 99.75 percentile, you can get COEP Pune which is a better option if fees are a concern (₹80K/yr vs ₹1.5L/yr at PICT). What is the difference between MHT-CET state merit and home university merit?
