Faculty members participate in sports and other activities and eat in the mess with the students. Students can participate in sports such as cricket, football, tennis, and volleyball.

It is highly wholesome without the pollution and traffic of cities because it is located in the tranquil Uhl River Valley far from cities. A healthy climate that is warm in the summer and chilly in the winter. IIT Mandi campus offers a safe and secure atmosphere for female students to pursue careers and participate in co-curricular activities in order to attain their objectives. Aside from raising awareness and fostering a gender-sensitive work environment via the Women's Centre, IIT Mandi has an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to handle any sexual harassment complaints.

Yes, students can change their branch in IIT Mandi. To be considered for a branch change, the student must apply before the end of the second semester of their study. The applicant must state, in order of preference, the branch or branches to which they wish to make a change. Branch change applications will be evaluated strictly on merit, as determined by the CGPA of first-year courses. If a seat becomes available at any point during the process, it will be provided to the candidate with the highest CGPA.
